The UK absorbs 3x more South African Cap Classique than any other market

Nine-litre cases exported to the top 10 destinations, June 2023 – May 2024

43%
of top-10 export volume captured by the UK alone
>10%
of total packaged export value now from African markets
South African Cap Classique has cultivated a genuinely global following, reaching consumers across Europe, the Americas, and the Indian Ocean. But the United Kingdom stands in a category of its own — at 86 600 cases it receives nearly three times the volume sent to second-placed United States, creating significant market concentration risk for producers. Therefore, as U.S. tariff barriers tighten, the industry's pivot toward African frontier markets — Kenya, Zambia and Uganda among them — is both a strategic hedge and a structural shift, with the continent now accounting for more than 10% of total packaged export value.
