Khan is summoned to a disciplinary process over his behaviour at the cocaine scene. Khan claims certain colleagues are targeting him because he reported investigations into his boss Khumalo's possible involvement in secret service funds abuse and nepotism.
March 2025
KwaZulu-Natal cop boss Nhlanhla Mkhwanazi clears Khan in the disciplinary process. The police service warns of resistance to a Crime Intelligence cleanup and that Khumalo is being maliciously accused of bringing in his own people.
June 2025
Idac arrests Khumalo and six colleagues over an allegedly irregular appointment, leading to Khumalo's temporary removal as Crime Intelligence chief.
July 2025
Mkhwanazi alleges a cartel has infiltrated the criminal justice system. He later suggests the case against Khumalo is maliciously driven, that Idac has a rogue element in it, and Khan is not clean.

Khan is arrested in a case relating to the illicit possession of precious metals.

Khan is wounded in a shooting in Gauteng before he is set to testify at the Madlanga Commission of Inquiry where accusations against him mount.

Idac boss Andrea Johnson resigns while facing mounting accusations. She was close to Khan.
August 2026
Khumalo and his Crime Intelligence colleagues are cleared in the case that Idac drove against them.
September 2026
Khan is dismissed from the South African Police Service. Khumalo is back heading Crime Intelligence and other critical investigative teams.
